The Philippines has been producing lots of college graduates every year, yet only few got nice jobs. The many factors contributing to local unemployment already known to everyone. And in my own opinion, the major reason is the government's political will.
Few months after graduating college, I was surprised to received a letter from a known DMCI Construction company. At first, it made me wonder how come they sent me an invitation for an interview when I did not even made an application. Later I found out that it was the initiative of the company to search for new graduates to fill up their job hiring.
Though the letter made me happy knowing that a company is offering me a job, I was not interested to be scheduled for an interview because I was thinking that as a fresh graduate, I could be put in the lowest position of job equivalent to a construction worker.
At that time, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority was booming with lots of job hiring. So I tried to apply for several job position and my first company was a taiwanese-owned computer manufacturing company, the GVC Philippines, inside the SBMA.
